PEACE MARCH
PLANNING COMMITTEE
CONTINUES WORKING HARD
With less than three weeks remaining before the third annual Peace March takes
place, members of the peace march planning committee are growing more and more excited and
enthusiastic about this important community event which will take place on Saturday,
October 28, 2000.
CAR WASH FUND-RAISER PLANNED
On Saturday October 14, 2000, there will be two car wash locations along Atlanta
Highway where everyone can have their vehicles washed "spotless clean" and
support the Peace March with a donation at the same time. The first location will be in
the parking lot of Durango Restaurant (Cleveland Hwy., Hwy. 129 past South Enotah Drive in
Gainesville, across the street from Poor Richard's restaurant). The second location will
be in the parking lot of La Flor de Jalisco No. 2 supermarket (Atlanta Hwy., Gainesville).
At both locations, volunteers will be washing cars for donations from 10:00 a.m. until
approximately 4:00 p.m., weather permitting.
The car wash at La Flor de Jalisco No. 2 supermarket will feature a series of traditional
folk dances by a youth dance troup, who are rehearsing for the October 28 Peace March.
CELEBRATION, FOOD AND THEATRE
AT ST. MICHAEL CATHOLIC CHURCH
As part of the spirit of the Peace March, the Planning Committee has organized a
fund-raiser called a "Kermés" (French for "bazarre," a traditional
feast celebration with food, music, typical Mexican foods and refreshments) for Sunday,
October 15 at St. Michael Catholic Church beginning at 2:00 p.m.
The "Kermés" will be followed by a theatre production titled "Rostros
Ocultos", presented by "Teatro Jóven" (an Atlanta youth theatre group).
The theatre presentation "Rostros Ocultos" ("hidden faces") will begin
at 3:00 p.m. The theatre play explores the challenges youth face in modern society, using
a dramatic approach. "Rostros Ocultos" will be free of cost, and food and
refreshments will be sold at a nominal price to help raise funds for the Peace March.

cultures. Everyone is invited and encouraged to come and participate.
- The Peace March is completely non-partisan and
non-political.

participate, the Peace March is not an evangelical movement or an attempt to recruit

beliefs.
